Three Things Thursday

1.  Border Wars Triathlon is in exactly 23 days….23 days, 18 hours, and 32 minutes to be exact.  How did that sneak up on me?!?  While I know it is going to be difficult, I am really excited about the race.  Is that crazy?  Or maybe that’s my nerves already starting to drive me crazy.  Gah!

There’s an app for that.

2.  I have another sprint triathlon this weekend.  After my last open water swim freak out, I wanted more practice before the 70.3.  Luckily, the race company that is putting on Border Wars has a small tri this weekend about an hour away from me.  The Litchfield Triathlou is a smaller race with some major swag.  Bonus!  Also, they offer an opportunity to practice in open water on Saturday as well.  Two opportunities to not panic in open water!  I also have a wet suit for the weekend which should help me a bit.  It’ll be my first time swimming in a full wet suit though, so this should be interesting to say the least.  My coach also has me doing a heavy training day on Saturday so I will be racing on dead legs.  Sounds fun, right?  I know this is kind of all over the place, but that’s kind of where my brain is at the present moment.

3.  Weigh in this week was less than great, but I’m okay with it.  I was on vacation and didn’t do too much damage.  I need to get my act together though since my Diet Bets are coming to an end.  Game face on!

And to conclude this super random post, meet my new foster pup Malbec.  She may be the sweetest dog that I have ever met and is probably better behaved than both of mine.  It’s ridiculous how good and easy she is.  Now to find her the perfect family….

Happy Thursday!

  1. Aww, good luck to Malbec!

And good luck to you at the races! The two practices this weekend will give you confidence for your goal tri!

Ha ha. Are you a hawkeyes fan?! 😛

  2. I wish I were a better swimmer, sprint triathlons look so fun! I would also need to be a better cyclist so…they’re just not in the cards for me.

That pup is such a cutie!!

  3. What a cute pup! The fiance and I keep talking about getting one but I think we will have to wait till after the wedding and probably till after we move.

I think the only way to get better with open water swims is to do more of them so you are on the right track! I often just remind myself to keep breathing out! Don’t hold your breath!
