Tapering Down and Gearing UpYou

Tapering is always madness.  All of a sudden I have all of this time on my hands and no idea what to do with it.  And can we talk about hungry?  I am like a bottomless pit.  Freaking taper.

On the plus side, it’s nice to have workout instructions from my coach that say, “Go for a 30 minute run.  Or take a walk if you are tired.”  Wait, what!?!

You guys are going to be so tired of seeing this countdown by race day. For reals.

As I am tapering down for the Border Wars Triathlon, I am gearing up for the super awesome October Stay Away from Tricks and Treats Challenge!  There is still time to join, so shoot me an email at onecrazypenguin@gmail.com if you are interested.  We have an awesome group of people thus far and I am really excited!  I’ll be posting my goals for the month tomorrow and setting up a link up for everyone who is participating!

  1. Congrats on making it to the taper – hope that you are enjoying it! Glad that it’s been such a good ‘journey’ for you. I’m impressed that you are feeling comfortable on the bike. I think that it took me at least 2 years to feel, even at times, like a “real” cyclist.

  2. Wow! Border Wars is a colossal race. I was checking out all the routes and info. My husband and I have walked/run/biked the run route on the levee many times. I am hosting a bridal shower Sunday or I would definitely be there to cheer you on.

  3. Oddly, I don’t get any hungrier after a taper. It’s usually about two or three days after a marathon or particularly tough half.
