The Light at the End of the Tunnel…

…is an oncoming train.

So you remember how I said that all I had to do was make it through my hell week/ten days and then things got calmer and easier?  I lied.  I just found out that I will now be leaving tomorrow for a weekend in Switzerland, a couple of days in the Netherlands, and a day in the UK.  My job is insanity sometimes, but that travel itinerary does not suck!

On the plus side, my coach is freaking awesome and instead of flipping out when I told her all of this, she took it in stride and wrote me an awesome new run schedule for next week.  I was kind of dubious about the whole hiring a coach thing at first.  It has been, hands down, one of the best decisions that I have made.  I’m getting my workouts in, improving my fitness, and really gaining confidence in my ability to finish this 70.3.  I had my first swim workout on Tuesday when I felt like an actual swimmer instead of someone who was just trying to act like a swimmer.  HUGE confidence booster.

In extra good news though, all the effort of the last two weeks has not been for naught.  I have a shiny new PADI certification!  We have our open water dive in the middle of August, but I can dive anywhere in the world!

Happy Thursday!

  1. What a great itinerary, even if you have to throw in some work too! I love running while traveling – it’s such a great way to explore a new place. And you’ll definitely be able to jump back into swimming and biking when you get back. During IM training, I always told myself that it was something that enhanced my life but it was not my ENTIRE life, and that often (not always) helped me keep things in perspective.
